The Plow digs down to cut the palmetto plant’s deep roots off at a depth of 8 to 10 inches and runs the material through a series of rotating separators. This process removes roots, sticks, and other vegetation from the soil. The vegetative debris goes into a hopper and the soil falls back onto the ground clean enough to be used at the site. This means that, in most cases, topsoil stripping will not be necessary. The debris in the hopper, which is clean burnable material, is dumped periodically. Depending on the site, it is either burned or hauled off.
Since 1976, the Agri-Tiller Palmetto Plow has been utilized on many different types of projects including golf course construction, airports, roads, orange grove clearing, and general site development. The Agri-Tiller Palmetto Plow has been incorporated into many owners and engineers specifications, especially where quality topsoil is at a premium.
One Palmetto Plow can clear approximately 10 to 12 acres per day and the project can be 20 to 50 percent more economical then other clearing techniques. It takes 8 to 10 pieces of equipment to match the production per day of one Agri-Tiller Palmetto Plow. The Agri-Tiller Palmetto Plow is a proven solution for palmetto removal.
